This past Sunday, we hit one of our favorite routes from Moab, Utah to Green River—a classic ride that never disappoints. With its endless variations, this route offers something for everyone: smoother dual-sport stretches, rugged overland paths, and even some technical hard enduro terrain for riders who crave a challenge.
The Journey Begins
While the guys set out on bikes, I hopped in my trusty 2007 Toyota 4Runner with our son Taylen riding co-pilot. Taylen took charge of navigation and DJ duties, keeping us on track and setting the vibe for the day. Along the way, we linked up with the riders at one of the best obstacles on the route—perfect for grabbing some action shots.
Watching our 11-year-old, Graysen, tackle the desert terrain with confidence was a highlight. Seeing him ride alongside the rest of the crew made for some unforgettable memories. Of course, the dogs were along for the adventure too, stretching their legs and enjoying the wide-open desert.

Overland & Two-Wheel Adventure
One of the things we love about this Moab-to-Green River ride is the variety. Riders can choose to take on technical climbs, fast-flowing dualsport sections, or, like I did, stick to the overland version and still soak in the beauty of Utah’s backcountry. Taylen and I even got a chance to hop on the back of the bikes for a quick ride before hiking back out to the 4Runner.
Desert Landmarks & Local Flavor
From there, the group continued to Crystal Geyser, a unique spot near Green River that’s always worth a stop. After some sightseeing, we rolled into town for a well-earned lunch at the world-famous Ray’s Tavern. Good food, cold drinks, and the kind of small-town atmosphere that makes Green River special.
Of course, no trip through Green River is complete without picking up some of their famous Green River watermelons—the sweetest reward after a long ride. Fueled up and stocked with melons, we pointed our rigs and bikes back toward Moab, tired but smiling after a full day in the desert.
A Perfect Moab Ride
All in all, it was one of those days that reminds us why we love living and riding in this incredible corner of Utah. Dirt bikes, family, friends, dogs, desert trails, and small-town stops—it’s everything an off-road adventure in Moab should be.
Until the next ride—see you on the trails.
